Superstition about Corona in Indonesia

Indonesians love superstition and everything which happens in our daily life whether it is extraordinary or not it will come out with a superstitious thing. Not to forget about Corona. Indonesians love to mention some of the natural events which happened during the restriction day due to the Corona virus and the day before Corona finally impacted Indonesia, especially Yogya-the city where I and my wife live in.
My wife heard some of the superstition stuff from my neighbors when they meet while buying groceries and believe it or not, some of them are really true or maybe it is a just a pure coincidence.
During the restriction days, we heard that one village in Yogya is getting lockdown due to a mass infection of the Corona virus. And, natural event happened before and during the lockdown is there are so many plaintive cuckoo found in that village. The entire housing area is under lockdown because there are four people infected by the virus and the plaintive cuckoo are found everywhere in that area. It seems that the plaintive cuckoo are considered as a rare bird in Yogya and they have been seen and heard everywhere during the lockdown in that area.
Plaintive cuckoo is a brown-grey colored feather with a long tail and a black beak. This bird has a small body and can be considered as an ugly bird which has a high voice which can be heard from far. This bird is called a death bird in Yogya and it is known that they will appear if there is a death in a house or during the funeral ceremony.
Last week, we saw on the local TV news that so many worms came out from the ground of two traditional markets in Yogyakarta. It is said that these natural events would cause more victims of this virus and this week one village near the traditional market is closed due to vast infection of the virus.
So many babies are crying at night is also a superstition for bad luck in Yogya, Indonesia. It means that so many people will get infected by the corona virus. This happens in a slum area in Yogya and that slum is also being locked down by the local government.
Sometimes, I wonder that the superstitions are just the way it is, but the people who made it up and relate it with exact event makes me believe that it is not just a pure coincidence. Whatever it is me and my wife pray for the safety and health for all.
